Cork, one of Nature’s most extraordinary products.

Cork is the bark of the cork oak (Quercus Suber L.), which means that it is 100% natural, it is completely biodegradable, renewable and recyclable.

Cork has unique properties that no technology is able to emulate.

Cork has remarkable appeal, the natural texture of cork combines softness and flexibility to the touch.

All our pieces are made of agglomerated cork, available in five different references (color and granule).
The removal of the cork from the tree (cork oak tree – sobreiro) is mainly used to produce bottle cork stoppers. The remaining cork is crushed and we get a granulate which is compressed forming a block – Agglomerated cork – that we acquire, we cut and we work to produce our pieces.
The granulate can have different types of cork, different mixtures (our color 5015 has recycled rubber) and different grain size.

The JANS cork objects are crafted in our ateliers, inspired in traditional techniques in a meticulous mechanical and manual process, each piece being accompanied by a single artisan. This meticulous process can condition the delivery time of the pieces. Normally an order may have a delivery time of 15-30 business days (to be confirmed by email after receipt of the order) and this period may, eventually, be increased if the raw material it’s not available.
